For over a decade, the Biblical Zoohas operated a special initiative in which the Zoo Mobile goes out for ten daysper year to communities throughout the country. The Zoo Mobile arrives at alocation and offers several workshops throughout the day, at schools, youthclubs, senior clubs, youth centers, and community centers, among others. The activities are customized in advance and according to the changing needs ineach community and the various organizations we want to reach.
Towns visited in the past by the Zoo Mobile include Kiryat Shemona, Acre, Tiberias and Beit Shean, Ramle/Lod, Ofakim, Sderot, Netivot, Jisr az-Zarqa, Rahat, and others. The workshops are facilitated free of charge and are funded by the Friends of the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo Association.
The feedback the zoo receives inresponse is extremely passionate. All workshop participants enjoy the encounterand the contact with the animals, are fascinated by the zoo’s behind-the-scenes stories and learn so much this way – about nature and the environment, about the need to preserve the nature which still remains within our world, and about the animals we must preserve and protect. Often, we receive requests for additional visits to these towns.
