This turtle lives almost exclusively within thewater, coming onto land for short periods of time to regulate its temperatureand for laying eggs. Mature individuals reach the size of 12 – 15 cm. Theseomnivorous turtles are nourished by plants and small animals, upon which theyprey. Eggs hatch, and the offspring’s sex is determined by the temperature ofthe eggs during incubation.
