Reflections: Visiting the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo Photos from the book by Idan Yaron
The book - Reflections: Visiting the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo was written by Sociologist and cultural investigator Dr. Idan Yaron. For the purpose of writing the book, he spent time at the zoo as a "regular visitor", conducting observations and recorded the way visitors go on about the Zoo, in an attempt to reveal their visiting habits. The exhibition shows photos by Sasson Tiraam, describing a selection of photos from the book, sided by short segments from the text. Presented here is only a small "taste" from the visiting experiences at the Zoo.
Dr. Idan Yaron, received his PhD. in Sociology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He serves as a senior lecturer of Sociology at the Ashkelon Academic Collage and of Cultural Studies at the Sapir Collage. His field of expertise: Organizational Sociology and Cultural Investigation (Literature, Cinema and Art).
Sasson Tiram has been in the field of Photography for 40 years. He studied Photography at Hadassah Collage and became and associate partner and photographer in one of the largest photography companies in Israel. In the past, he worked for "Yediot Achronot" and other newspaper agencies (AP, GAMA). From 1979 he accompanied with his photos many important events around the world – The inauguration of the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, the peace talks in Jordan and visits of many film actors in Israel.
