The smallest of the nocturnal birds of prey in Israel. They are found in large open areas in Israel that have that contain broad, leafy woodlands. During the daytime they hide in lush and leafy trees, near the trunk. The Eurasian Scops owls colors provide excellent camouflage. About 95% of their diet consist of insects.
