The Squirrel monkey's habitat and distribution is in the South-American rain forests. They feed on fruit, insects and other arthropods. The squirrel monkeys live in large groups of up to 100 individuals. They are small sized, weighing up to 1 Kg. a squirrel will will often wraps  its tail around itself to conserve body heat. The tail also aids in balancing when walking among the branches. Females that do not have offspring assist other females in the group in bringing up their young.
