Cockroaches are insects and the females “pack” their eggs in special cases after they are laid. Some species carry such a case until the eggs hatch. Their natural habitat and distribution are is many tropical areas. Out of 3500 known species, only a handful have adapted to the urban environment, but these have spread all around the world. The origin of both the American and the German cockroaches, two of the most common roaches in houses, is actually from Africa. However, they managed to spread to America and Germany before being scientifically defined and receiving their common names. Most cockroaches are omnivores. In the wild they usually eat dead insects and plant matter, but in urban areas they eat anything …Although cockroaches can often be found in large numbers, they do not have a structured social composition and are essentially solitary. The largest cockroach in the world comes from Australia and reaches 9 cm in length and weighs up to 35 grams. In the past, cockroaches reached 50 cm in length!!!
